Physical Education

Our PE Learning

“The only one who can tell you ‘you can’t win’ is you and you
don’t have to listen.”—Jessica Ennis-Hill
At Lionwood our
aim is to develop a love of sports, exercise, and an understanding of a healthy
lifestyle. Through active engagement pupils will develop a kinaesthetic
awareness, the knowledge of body basic movements and an understanding of what it means to
live a healthy and active lifestyle. Physical Education is a fantastic
opportunity for children to learn and develop skills that are transferable from
the sports field to everyday life. Through a varied and exiting curriculum the
goal is to spark a love of exercise in our children that they will carry with
them into later life. Our goal is to inspire a child that will go on to become
a future gold medallist or world cup winning athlete. However, the minimum we
aim to achieve is a child who understands the benefits of exercise and the
importance of a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Our children benefit from
exploring a variety of ways in which we can stay healthy and keep active. We
encourage our children to find their way of keeping active. Whether that be
football, rugby, running, walking or yoga. We want our children to find their
fit.
