After-School Club

After School Club (ASC)
Our after-school club is based at Lionwood Junior School and accommodates up to 40 children daily from both Lionwood Infant and Nursery School and Lionwood Junior School.
A daily walking bus transfers the children safely to the provision by safeguarding trained and qualified staff. Children are registered on arrival and signed out by the parent/carer at collection.
Before attending the ASC, parents/carers will be requested to fill out our registration document which contains the key information we need to ensure the children are safe and happy with us.
Early in a child’s ASC journey we create a child profile to ensure we know their needs, likes and dislikes. We want to make sure our provision contains the activities and food they enjoy!

ASC Team
ASC is led by Glenda Prior who is one of the schools Designated Safeguarding Leads, Parent Support Advisor and our Extended School Development Lead.
Chloe Folger, Adam Goodman, Sally Hoyles and Poppy Lawrence make up the rest of the ASC Team. They all hold various qualifications and have experience in working with children.
The team are all DBS checked at enhanced level and have annual safeguarding training with certification.
Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene Certificates are also held by the staff members.

Activities
The children can experience indoor and outdoor play enhancing their fine and gross motor skills. We enjoy role play and the use of imagination in all the activities we present.
There are also various clubs that run within the ASC, and these include racket, football, cricket, dance, running and creative craft.
Activities are always on display in the ASC room and change weekly.

Food
We provide a healthy and varied range of cold food snacks daily and like to be child led when planning our weekly snacks. We love trying new foods and include cookery to provide and enhance snack choices.
Allergens, religious and other food preferences are all catered for by informing staff of your child’s needs.
The children help to plan a weekly menu. Previously this has included wraps, pancakes, pitta breads, sandwiches, crackers, crumpets, dips, pickles, olives, fresh fruit and vegetables.
We also include cooking on a weekly basis and all the children are included in this. Our older children also assist in the food ordering process with Mrs Prior.
