At Lionwood Infant and Nursery School we are Artists! We believe that through art, children can express themselves and explore their identity.

Art should enable children to communicate what they see, feel and think. Children are encouraged to look closely at the world around them and by using this close observation, imagination and other stimuli, children will create a variety of visual work that communicates their ideas, thoughts and feelings.
During their time at Lionwood Infant and Nursery school children will experiment with, use of colour, texture, form, pattern and different materials and processes. Children will use their ideas and experiences to create work that is valued.
Art is a practical subject where children are, given opportunities to learn new skills and techniques and practise to improve these over time. We want our pupils to learn the value of practise, to express themselves freely through their art and be, inspired by the work of a diverse range of painters, sculptors and designers. We want to empower our children to pursue creative endeavours, and have the courage to try new things.
